Unveiling Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos – A Thrilling Tabletop Adventure on the Horizon
Iconiq Studios has provided additional insights into Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos, highlighting its gameplay features and modes that participants can anticipate. An exclusive preview of the miniature version of Lara Croft that will be included in the game has also been unveiled. Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos is set to launch its crowdfunding campaign in late May 2025. Below, you can see the initial design of Lara, who is captured in a dynamic pose wielding her dual pistols while confidently standing atop a column.
This tabletop adaptation of the Tomb Raider franchise aims to encapsulate the elements fans cherish, including exploration, puzzle-solving, and action. Players will accompany Lara on her expedition to Kairos Island, where she seeks an ancient artifact believed to control time. Her quest will involve navigating treacherous environments, evading cunning traps, and confronting the notorious adversary, Natla Technologies. In terms of gameplay modes, the first one is termed Adventure Book Mode.
This offers a structured narrative experience, immersing players in various scenarios through diverse missions that range from 20 to 60 minutes. For those seeking a more extensive journey, Campaign Mode will deliver a broad, open-world experience on a large island map, expected to take around three hours to finish. In this mode, randomized locations and missions will enrich gameplay and provide new experiences with each session. Irrespective of the chosen mode, players can engage with a crafting system that enables them to collect superior weapons, outfits, and special abilities.
Lastly, although Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos is primarily designed for solo gameplay, it accommodates cooperative play. While featuring a single playable character, multiple players can collaborate to tackle the challenges Lara faces and achieve objectives together. As previously mentioned, the Kickstarter campaign for Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos will commence in late May 2025. Further information can be found on the project’s page.
