Gran Turismo 7 is the Series’ Second Best-Selling Game in the US

The Gran Turismo series continues to be a powerhouse for Sony, with the latest entry, Gran Turismo 7, maintaining robust sales. Recent data from Circana for January sales in the United States show that this racing simulator has made a strong comeback into the top 20. Mat Piscatella, an analyst, provided additional insights into the game's impressive performance in the region through social media.

Piscatella explained that based on revenue from sold copies, Gran Turismo 7 holds the position as the series' second highest-selling title in the US since its release in February 2022. While it currently sits behind the 2001 PS2 hit Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, Gran Turismo 7 is on a promising track to potentially overtake the top spot within the year.

The game has been consistently updated with new, free content post-launch, contributing to its sustained success. For instance, in February of the previous year, PlayStation VR2 was fully integrated into the game through a free update. Moreover, the Spec 2 Update in November, which was the most substantial addition to date, has reportedly doubled the game's active user count, according to Kazunori Yamauchi, the game's producer.

Despite its critical acclaim, Gran Turismo 7 faced initial criticism from its community over server problems, aggressive in-game purchases, and other issues. Nonetheless, Polyphony Digital, the developer, has actively worked on incorporating player feedback through ongoing updates to improve the gaming experience.

Gran Turismo 7, which is available on both PS5 and PS4, has had discussions regarding a potential PC version, though no development is currently underway, according to statements made by Yamauchi.

In conclusion, Gran Turismo 7's strong performance and continuing updates have solidified its place as a key title in the series, with the potential to achieve even greater success in the US market.
