Eddie Brock Transforms: Venom to Carnage in New Marvel Series
Marvel Comics has exciting plans for a fresh iteration of Venom, set to debut in the forthcoming ongoing series All-New Venom this December. This development prompts a significant inquiry: what will happen to Eddie Brock? Surprisingly, Eddie is set to take on the identity of a new incarnation of Carnage.
This revelation was made during the Spider-Man and His Venomous Friends panel at NYCC today. The new dynamic will be explored in a series titled Eddie Brock: Carnage, which brings back the creative team behind Star Wars, comprising writer Charles Soule and artist Jesus Saiz. The initial issue will showcase a cover designed by Iban Coello, alongside a variant cover from Mark Bagley.
Currently, Carnage is involved in the Venom War crossover event, where the symbiote has merged with a clone of its original host, Cletus Kasady. However, this situation seems unlikely to persist. In the upcoming series, Eddie is expected to connect with the Carnage symbiote and struggle to manage its overwhelming desire for chaos. There’s a sense that this might be a challenging endeavor.
The narrative introduces the concept that Carnage thrives on destruction, requiring Eddie to provide it with victims. In an effort to make peace with this reality, Eddie will target those with criminal histories. However, the nature of Carnage as a creature of addiction complicates matters, as it craves more and more over time.
During the panel, Marvel also hinted at a forthcoming crossover event titled Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse, set to launch in May 2025. Following several successful crossovers between the Spider-Verse and Venomverse, the meeting of these two worlds seemed destined to happen. For now, the creative team and story details remain under wraps, with only teaser artwork available.
Marvel further showcased the upcoming Rise of Emperor Doom crossover and hinted at a new ongoing Star Wars series named Jedi Knights. There's also a comprehensive overview of all the announcements made at NYCC available for fans eager to catch up on the latest developments.
